FEBC’s 66th Anniversary

Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) Philippines marked its 66th year with a Thanksgiving Service at the Folk Arts Theater in Pasay City last June 7. It was a well-attended event which gathered close to 3,000 listeners and supporters.

DZAS anchors Haydee Sampang, Lemuel Reunir and Efren Pallorina hosted a special live broadcast at 6:30 a.m. to kick off the celebration.

The Thanksgiving Service featured two listener/partners who shared their testimony of how the broadcasts have had an impact in their lives. Guest speaker was Bishop Ef Tendero. A short memorial service for FEBC founder Dr. Bob Bowman also served as one of the Service’s highlights.

Two FEBC stations, 702 DZAS and 98.7 DZFE-FM, also celebrated their anniversaries. In commemoration of the latter’s 60th anniversary, they invited Harana ng Kasarinlan, “Bravo Filipino” host Bert Robledo, and soprano Fame Flores to perform during the DZFE segment. The audience were treated to a medley of pop and contemporary numbers.

Announcers Haydee Sampang, Pastor Jay Banzuelo, and DJ Jordan Escusa hosted the DZAS segment. They welcomed the DZAS on-air talents onstage, who in turn, greeted  their listeners  and encouraged them to continue listening to the broadcast.

Two new programs, “Okiddo: The 4/14 Kids’ Show” and “Istoryahang Banyuhay,” were formally launched, and new program hosts, Pastor Herald Cruz and Atty. Caloy Cao (for “Serbisyong OFW”) and Atty. Micah Reysio Cruz and Atty. Chona Cruz-Gonzalez (for “Tabas ng Batas”), were also introduced.

The “Tanikalang Lagot” talents also did a live dramatization of the story of Paula “Ex-Amalayer” Salvosa. The program ended with the DZAS talents leading the audience in singing FEBC’s theme song “Magkaugnay Tayo”.
